- There are 3 versions of pure argan oil in the market. 1. Toasted Argan oil. The Argan nuts are roasted before pressing. This produces a rich flavorful aroma and adds amber/gold color to the Argan oil. This oil is mostly used for culinary but sometimes sold as cosmetic. 2. Deodorized Argan oil; this is the most common Argan oil in the market. For appeal, the argan oil is deodorized after pressing to remove or minimize the natural scent as the scent can be off putting to some people. This will produce Argan oil with no smell. The color varies from yellow to clear. The method of deodorizing varies from one company to another hence many versions in the market. 3. Raw Argan oil: This is the virgin Argan oil that has not gone through further processing after pressing. It is yellowish in color and has a characteristic distinct Argan scent a few may not like at first.
